Abstract

Pakistan Television (PTV) started regular television broadcasting in Pakistan. PTV airs dramas based on reliable, conventional facts. Pakistani dramas have highlighted various economic, social, religious, cultural, and moral issues of Pakistani society. This research examines female characters in six Pakistani dramas. The selected drama serials portray the image of women in a different and positive manner who face all the sufferings and difficult situations imposed by the society with courage and fortitude. The purpose of depicting empowered women in these plays is to remove gender inequality and encourage women's participation in various spheres of life. Depending on the nature of the subject, this research involves a qualitative method. The primary data source is TV drama serials and interviews of female playwrights, while the secondary source includes research articles, reports, blogs, books, etc.  Dramas from 2016 to 2022 have been selected in the study. In these selected dramas, the roles of women have been examined as to how they become empowered and successful by struggling in their lives.
