Abstract

This research study explores the scholarly significance of Bazl al-Majhud fi Hall Abi Dawud, the renowned commentary on Sunan Abi Dawud authored by Shaheikh Khalil Ahmad Saharanpuri, with particular focus on its contributions to the domain of Fiqh al-Hadith. The commentary is a pivotal work in the Deobandi tradition of Hadith scholarship, integrating juristic insights with detailed explanations of prophetic traditions. Through a critical and analytical approach, the study examines how the author interprets legal traditions, reconciles apparent contradictions, and connects Hadith with classical juristic discourse. Special emphasis is placed on the methodology employed in deriving legal rulings, the balance between textual authenticity and juristic application, and the role of the commentary in shaping contemporary Hadith understanding. This analytical exploration not only highlights the intellectual depth of Shah Khalil Ahmad’s exegetical style but also situates Bazl al-Majhud within the broader spectrum of Islamic jurisprudential and Hadith studies. The research further evaluates the commentary’s relevance in modern contexts, emphasizing its enduring role in bridging Hadith interpretation with practical fiqh.
